Interior design trend: ahead of the curve

Curves are one of the biggest interior design trends of 2019. In related news, cases of stubbed toes are plummeting! (Just kidding.)

We’re not kidding about the curves trend, however. We’re loving this aesthetic that embraces silhouettes that are both soft and bold, modern and retro. Here’s how we’re staying ahead of the curve in our property styling.

Emphasise softness

Curved furniture just makes us think of sitting on top of a cloud. You can play into the imagination by adding layers of softness. Think lots of fluffy cushions and throw rugs, piled up like an adult version of a blanket fort. We love to emphasise softness in our property styling – comfort is one of the main things potential buyers are looking for in their new home.

Play with contrasts

Difference draws the eye and creates interest. Where there is softness, we add clean lines and geometric silhouettes to offset it. Balance out curved furniture with angular prints, glossy surfaces, minimalist shapes. A glass coffee table next to a rounded sofa, for example.

It’s in the detail

Your decor can nod to the curved interior design trend, too. Say hello to softly shaped cushions, lamps, vases, mirrors, baskets, sculptures, beads and much more.
